IAAT: A Journey of Transformation
For over a decade, I immersed myself in the diverse cultures, landscapes, and stories of the world through extensive travel across numerous countries. Each journey not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my understanding of humanity’s shared purpose and the profound connection between knowledge and self-awareness. This transformative period in my life inspired a longing to create meaningful impact—a desire that found its answer in IAAT.
Drawn by its philosophy, which resonated deeply with my spiritual beliefs, IAAT presented an opportunity to channel my experiences and values into the world of education. Entering the program with no formal teaching background, I was both excited and apprehensive. However, from the very first moment, IAAT felt like the perfect extension of my journey—a space where learning was holistic, purposeful, and transformative.
One of the first assignments that shaped my perspective was reflecting on the concept of a teacher as a guide and facilitator, rather than just a source of knowledge. It echoed my own experiences of learning through exploration during my travels. I realized that education, much like traveling, is about discovering paths, asking questions, and embracing new perspectives.
IAAT challenged me to rethink how learning happens. The program also gave me tools to integrate technology meaningfully into learning. As someone who had always valued face-to-face experiences, I was initially hesitant about digital platforms. But working on collaborative projects and using digital tools to create interactive lesson plans showed me how technology could bring ideas to life, making learning more dynamic and inclusive.
Perhaps the most powerful transformation came from the emphasis IAAT placed on self-reflection. The program’s alignment with my spiritual beliefs—such as the importance of mindfulness, empathy, and purpose—was a constant source of inspiration. Reflecting on my experiences, I realized how deeply my life journey had shaped my values and how these values could guide me in creating a learning environment that fosters curiosity, compassion, and growth.
IAAT has been a bridge between my past and my aspirations. From a traveler seeking meaning in the world to an educator striving to inspire others, this journey has redefined who I am. This portfolio is a testament to that transformation, capturing the milestones, challenges, and moments of clarity that have shaped my path. It’s more than a collection of work—it’s a story of purpose, passion, and the power of learning to change lives.
Reflections on Mirambika
My visit to Mirambika School was a profoundly enriching experience. The campus radiated serenity, and its unique ethos, rooted in Shri Aurobindo and The Mother ’ s philosophy, fostered an atmosphere of calm and respect. One striking observation was the culture of soft, measured communication practiced by everyone, including the children, which cultivated an environment of mutual respect and peace.

The approach to learning emphasized freedom and ownership, with children independently exploring, researching, and engaging with the support of their Didi or Bhaiya. Practices such as starting the day with sports and the focus on the precise pronunciation of Sanskrit prayers showcased their commitment to holistic development. This visit has profoundly influenced my perspective on teaching. I am inspired to integrate gentle communication and encourage students to take ownership of their learning, fostering a classroom culture that emphasizes respect, independence, and holistic growth.
